2013-2014 Contest

The 2013-2014 contest task was to communicate a message. The contest was held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Carnegie Science Center. Springdale Jr/Sr High School received the eighth place, Butler Senior High School finished in seventh place, Brentwood Borough High School garnered sixth place, Brashear High School finished in fifth place, Seneca Valley Senior High School received fourth place, Greater Latrobe Senior High School received third place, North Allegheny Intermediate High School finished in second place, and congratulations to our first place team, Hempfield Area High School!

In addition to the finalist awards, many special awards were given out, with the winners receiving a tour of the award sponsor's facility. The Best Execution of a Theme award, sponsored by Westinghouse Electric Company LLC, went to Hempfield Area High School. Best Use of Gravity, sponsored by Kennywood Amusement Park, went to Greater Latrobe Senior High School. The Best Presentation award, sponsored by Robotics Institute School of Computer Science - Carnegie Mellon University, was given to North Allegheny Intermediate High School. The Rookie of the Year award went to Central Catholic High School and was sponsored by Carnegie Science Center. The Most Mechanical machine was from Seneca Valley Senior High School, and the award was sponsored by Carpenter Powder Products, Inc. Hampton High School was awarded Best Transportation System, sponsored by Bombardier Transportation. Montour High School received the Most Efficient Reset award, presented by Bayer HealthCare. The Most Green award, sponsored by ALCOSAN, was presented to Mars Area High School. The Carnegie Science Center sponsored the Longest Successfully Executed Contraption award, which went to Baldwin High School.

Congratulations to all of the schools that participated in the 2013-2014 contest and thanks to all of the volunteers and participants who made the event such a success.
