2018-2019 Contest

The 2018-2019 contest task was to Tie a Knot! The contest was held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at the Carnegie Science Center. Pine Richland High School received eighth place, Carlynton High School finished in seventh place, Cambria Heights High School garnered sixth place, Blackhawk High School finished in fifth place, Indian Creek High School received fourth place, Mohawk Area High School received third place, Hempfield Area High School finished in second place, and congratulations to our first place team, Greater Latrobe Senior High School!

In addition to the finalist awards, many special awards were given out, with the winners receiving a tour of the award sponsor's facility. The Best Execution of a Theme award, sponsored by Kennywood, went to Seneca Valley High School. Best Use of Gravity, sponsored by Carnegie Science Center, went to Hempfield Area High School. The Most Innovative award, sponsored by Jones Day, went to Mars Area High School. The Rookie of the Year award went to Beaver Falls High School and was sponsored by Carnegie Science Center. The Most Green machine was from Moon Area High School, and the award was sponsored by ALCOSAN. Fox Chapel High School received the Most Efficient Reset award, presented by Bayer HealthCare. Westinghouse Electric Company LLC sponsored the Longest Successfully Executed Contraption award, which went to Blackhawk High School.

Congratulations to all of the schools that participated in the 2018-2019 contest and thanks to all of the volunteers and participants who made the event such a success.
